Lover Dearest

He would not like it if I called him that to his face, but whatever.  I did not take any pictures with my man this weekend.  Mostly because there was no real photo oppertunities but also because with such a short time together, why wouldnt we just enjoy it.  So, I played nice girlfriend and did not take any pictures and I know Haig was a happy boyfriend about that.  I did however take one picture, revelant to the weekend after he left...

Wa-Bam.  I do have to point out (Sorry Love if you are reading this), but this is the first time Haig has bought me flowers.  We have almost been dating two years and yet this is the first time.  At the first dance we went to together, he gave me a red carnation, but we decided that did not count.  I think he did pretty good this time, don't you? :)  Regardless of the flowers, my boyfriend is a sweetheart, a big baby at times, but most of the time the cutest, most sweetest guy that there is.  I did however tell him next time he can get my roses, I think we are ready for that level of commitment.
Just wanted to share with you all how great my man is :)

Starting to take One Day at a time

Life is changing for sure, but first let's talk about my weekend shall we?

At the last minute (thursday), Haig found out he coule most likely come over for the weekend.  Amanda's brother Cory was heading over from Halifax so he graciously took Haig with him on Saturday evening.  I had a little prep night on friday, went to work for the day on Saturday, did a couple of things at home and then went to pick him up out at the MacKay's around 10:30 pm.  We went over to Boston Pizza to get some food.  I was really surprised at how great the food was so late at night.  We got thai chicken bites and a feta and pepperoni pizza.  Soo yummy.  We went home and spent the evening cuddling and watching 'How to lose a guy in ten days'.  I will not be doing that with thiiiisss guyyyy for sure.  At times, we drive each other crazy, but isnt that called love?  Sunday we went to church.  I spent some time with Jude and Eva in nursery and then got to go to Relief Society.  We had a great lesson on the atonement of Jesus Christ.  I know without doubt that he can take away our sins and heal us, he can make the pain go away.  It is such a beautiful thing to know in this day and age when the world around us is full of filthy things everywhere we turn, to know that we can turn to him and he will be there.  Sunday afternoon, we took a lovely and well needed nap, ate dinner with my family, had a power outage and watched 'Soul Surfer'.  It was actually a decent movie, pick it up next time you go to the movie rental store.  Sunday evening, we had a late YSA activity/Amanda going away party at the chapel.  We ate chips, smores, played apples to apples and laughed all of our cares away.  Except for me of course.  The next morning, Haig left once more.  "Dear long distance relationships, you kind of stink, but you are so darn worth it."  I continued on with my day, going to get some deals at Value Village and going to work the evening shift.  We have some new people at work and I got to train them a bit, so that was a different but good experience.

And so now, today.  This morning I got up at 6:03am.  Got dressed, cleaned up a little and was out of my house at 6:12 to go see Amanda off to Lethbridge, Alberta.  As some of you may know, Amanda and I have been friends since we were kids.  We grew up together.  She has already left me once to go out to Lethbridge, but she was joined by her family then.  We grew even closer through out Junior High, High School and most of all, Senior Year.   This past year, we have had many ups and downs and turn arounds, but the greatest of all is where we are at now.  I can say that she is my best friend again, and I don't know what I would do without her.  But, now is the moment of truth when I will find that out.  The only thing that really changes is distance, but distance still does suck.  *Que Cornyness-- She holds a very special place in my heart and I am so glad we will be friends for a very long time.  Watch out Lethbridge, here she comes.

As for the rest of it, I think I am just gonna take this all one day at a time.  So, right now, I will go finish getting ready for work, I will eat some food and pack a lunch, I will send a sweet text to my lover boy and I will tell my family that I love them.  When it all comes down to it, Love is the only thing that matters.

This has gotta be the good life, good good life.

Summer is winding down, but you know what? I think I am okay with that.  I am really starting to look forward to going back to school, starting fresh, making new friends, having new experiences and loving life even more than I do now.  The summer has been good (I am hoping to do a blog post rap up of the summer, so stayed tuned), but I am glad that it is almost over.  Summer not only brings the close of a season this year, but it brings changes in the season to come.  Next week, Amanda is moving out west.  I honestly don't know how I will adjust to her leaving.  It will feel like a part of me has left (corny, but so true).  It will be different, but it will be okay (hopefully).  And then a next change will be Haig leaving.  We don't know when he is leaving yet, and as much as he is getting sick of being asked the dreaded question, I am starting to get it from people in my own branch and it is getting annoying.  He will leave when he can leave, that's all there is to it.  We hope to get a couple more months.

Life is good.  I have great friends, a great family and a great life.  So regardless of changes coming my way, Life will always be good.

Those Moments...

Lately I have been feeling many moments of bliss in my life.  Quiet moments, moments of thought, moments to not think, moments to burst out laughing, little moments, big moments.  'Moments' are what make life more memorable.  Yesterday as I took care of Jude and Eva in nursery, they were getting a little frustrated with one another.  Jude does not like sharing toys and neither does Eva.   I sat down on the couch for a couple of minutes and somehow in those minutes, they were quiet.  They did not fight over the toys, they did not talk, they did not look at me.  I love these kids, but this moment was amazing.  When I went to Relief Society, I listened to out lesson on Family History and Temple Work, but as I listened, my mind started to travel elsewhere but still kept the topic of the lesson on mind.  I thought about how important it is for me to become a perfected saint, so I can help to redeem the dead.  I also pondered the fact of how lucky I was to have gone to the temple a week before with Amanda and have had names to do that someone submitted.  Next time, I think I will have to do it for myself so I can experience the joy that comes from temple work.  Yesterday was also an afternoon where I caught up on some reading in the Book of Mormon.  Haig and I have decided to read it together and I got a little far behind with working the tent sale.  I loved just being in my bed and reading the stories in it.  True stories as they are, I love picturing them in my head, rooting for the heros and crying when things are hard.  I made a lovely meal for dinner of fried potatoes (fresh from our garden), fried eggs, bacon, beans and toast.  It was so delicious.  I took the evening to have 'me' time.  I made myself pretty and took a cold shower.  I sat down and watched some television with my mom.  We went to pick up my dad from the Airport.  I have missed him so much.  He is the man that I look up to.  He is a great father, a great husband and an amazing person.  My favorite thing about him is when he laughs and smiles and he did a lot of that last night.

I love my dad, and I love memorable moments like this.

Shopping Tips by Lyss

I am pretty good at shopping.  So, I decided to add a new label to my blog---Shopping Tips.  Every once in awhile when I find a good deal, a great tip or an amazing great to shop, here is where I will let you know.

Today my tip is on swim wear.  Summer comes and goes.  When it comes, I am dying to get a new bathing suit or bathing suit separates.  This year I got two new suits.  I have worn one of them for the most part of the summer and the other one got zero wears (should have waited on that one).  The other day I went to Old Navy to do a little looking for back to school when I spotted a rack of bathing suit separates.  How could I say no to cute little bottoms that were only $5.99 (regular $24.99).  Well, I couldn't.  The next day, I was at Joe Fresh and again, could not say no to a tankini top that was 10 Bucks.
Moral of the story--Buying bathing suits is worth the wait sometimes.  I will maybe get one or two wears out of this new one before the end of the summer and I will continue to wear it next summer.

Places to look for cheap pieces and suits at the end of summer-
Joe Fresh, Old Navy, Sportscheck, Garage, Bluenotes.

Road trip, Summer 2011

First & Last Road trip of the Summer- Check.

Last friday night at work, Amanda and I could hardly contain our excitement for our roadtrip the next day.  Then a co-worker, Syd the Kid ;) said "Why don't you just leave tonight after work?".  We had thought of this previously but did not really think too much of it until Sydney said that.  We then got a litttle more excited.  We made sure Emily was good to go and that it was okay with all the rents.  After getting off work at nine, I rushed home, packed and waited for Amanda to come pick me up.  From there, we went out to her place to get her all packed up and then we hit the road.  We made pretty good time considering the highways were empty and Amanda is a freakin' speed demon. We ate candy, we sang and we laughed.  We took a wrong turn but ended up in the right spot.  We arrived at Jessica's house a little after two and we went to sleep close to three.  In the long run, it was soo much better to go to bed at 3 and get up at 8 then to probably have gone to bed at 12 and get up at 5.

On Saturday, Amanda and I got up and made ourselves pretty to go to the Temple.  It was a lovely morning there.  It was so nice to be in the House of the Lord with my best friend.  There was only myself, Amanda and another youth at the temple so we were in and out pretty fast.  Usually I like having time to ponder in the temple, but I did not get a whole lot of that.  Instead, I was more content at the fact that I was even there.  I love to see the temple and I love being inside it even more!

After the temple, Amanda and I went and got lunch with her brother Cory.  Cory is totally cool and it was nice to hang out with him again.  It will be weird when Amanda moves out west and I live closer to her brother than she does.  After lunch, Amanda and Cory dropped me off at the Pinsent house while Amanda went and got her patriarchal blessing! Very exciting stuff.  I walked in the house like I lived there, because really a part of me does.  Jared came over awhile later and we waited for Amanda to be finished.  When she was, we drove Cory to work.  We had two options for the afternoon. 1.  Go and see the Buskers downtown Halifax and 2.  Go swimming and soak up some sun at the beach.  Well, we picked Option one, but then after arriving downtown, not finding parking and not finding a place to get changed we chose option two.

The beach was awesome, the swimming was delightful, my friends are lovely and my life is fabulous :)

We ate some dinner at Haig's house and then got some Ice Cream.

We parted seperate ways, and I had a great cuddle sesh with my boyfriend.
It was a great day.

Day in Moncton

Yesterday, Mom, Kayla and I went to Moncton for the day.  Three of my aunts, an uncle and a cousin were in town to visit my Grandma so we went to visit them all as well.  They planned on getting Grandma out of her seniors' home for the day.  We met up at the mall and we all did some shopping.  I did some damage.  I did not plan on buying too much but I walked out of the mall with new accessories, a new shirt and Sweet Pea body lotion from Bath and Body Works (love love love).   We ate some lunch together and then went back to the home to relax with Grandma.  It was a lovely morning and afternoon.  We ended the day trip by stopping at Crystal Palace on our way out of Moncton.  I have only been to Crystal Palace twice.  Once when I was a baby, and once when I was a couple of years older.  But, I was never able to ride the swings, and neither has Kayla.  So, we completed a childhood experience of riding the swings at Crystal Palace.
I loved ever minute of it :)

Go ahead and do something a kid would do, it makes life better.

Expressions of Love

Watching this has been my favorite thing about today.  I watched this talk by Richard G. Scott last week and I have not thought of it much since then.  Until I saw this on a friend's facebook wall.  I just love it.  It just makes me so excited to get married someday and have an eternal companion.  It will be the little moments that matter the most in the end, the little things that we do that will make us happy and those around us.  Today during testimony meeting I was reminded of how thankful I am to be a Latter-Day Saint and have the restored gospel in my life.  I am so excited to be going to the temple this weekend with some of my favorite people ever.  Someone once said that "The blessings of the temple come from our worthiness, rather than just the action of going there."  I am happy that I am worthy to go to the temple, and that I get to go there this weekend.  Just need to survive this week to get there, which I am sure I will!
Happy Sunday :)

Photos of Lately

Sunday July 31st
YSA Family Home Evening... We dressed up like fools to try and get a piece of a chocolate bar and we played spoons :)

Monday August 1st
I needed to get out.  Took a walk on the beach by myself.

Tuesday August 2nd
Went out to dinner to celebrate Mom and Dad's Anniversary.  Oh, and Momma tried on her wedding dress!

She's still got it after 25 years! You go mom!

All I have been doing lately is work, but it has been pretty good.  The other night I went to see Crazy, Stupid, Love with Amanda, Casey and Chelsey.  It was a really cute movie, I enjoyed it.  I'm planning on going out to a show tonight with Scott after I work until nine.  Oh and then I work 10-6 tomorrow! Woo.  Haha
Next weekend will be better;  Halifax for the win.

Yesterday marked 25 Years that my parents have been married!  HOLY Cow right?  My parents are the bomb digidy.  They are classy, awesome and crazy.  I was a little upset yesterday that my father is currently working our west and could not spend this special day with my momma, but she faired out pretty good.  We went out for dinner at one of her favorite restaurants, and I bought a cake and we took it home to eat.  I am so proud of my parents.  Making it this far.  It is a pretty big deal.  I love them and I am so happy I will be with them forever.
