Where did February go?

Today, I have fallen in love with Boyce Avenue.  His music is so great! I love some of his covers more than the actual songs.  Today has been pretty good otherwise.  I went to work from 10-6 (full day), but it actually was decent and we didn't do too much work.  I hate that it is snowing right now, absolutely hate it.  I just want it to be spring already.  I would love summer, but I could just be happy with spring.  Tomorrow my big brother turns 20.  It is so crazy.  He is getting old, but I guess I still love him.

Saturday, Sunday....(monday right around the corner)

This weekend has been a blast for once.  Saturday I slept in, got up around 10 and got ready for the day.  First stop was to the mall. My brother gave Kayla and I gift cards to Body shop for Christmas so we decided that it was finally time to use them.  I bought a facial cleanser and a tea tree oil product.  I also finally purchased a Body Shop Card so I will get discounts and stuff.  After all this time that I have shopped there, I finally got one.  From the mall, we went over to Kristy's and Angela's house.  These two girls are so sweet and we spend the afternoon playing Dance Dance Revolution and Super Mario Bros. on their Wii.  It was a lot of fun and I am glad that I got to spend time with them!

In the evening I attended the baptism of Sam Biggley.  I love the Biggley family so much and I am glad I attended the baptism because it was great and the spirit was so strong.  His older brother Noah gave the closing prayer and in it, he said "I hope that everyone here can follow the gospel for the rest of their lives".  When I opened my eyes, I looked around the room and I knew that all of the people in that room are strong enough that they will always have the gospel in their lives.

Casey got off work early and we had already had plans to hang out.  So after the baptism we picked up Casey and headed back to my place.  Casey got us a Salad and Chocolate Cake from work.  We sat in my bed, ate good food, had such good Girl Talk and watched a bit of a movie (we did have the Girl talk through most of it...).  I love this girl and I am so happy I have her in my life to talk about everything with.  She is lovely and great and awesome!

This week should be pretty decent.  Like I mentioned in the last post, I am headed to Freddy on Wednesday to pick up Em from school.  It should be nice to get off the island for a day at least.  I am excited to be heading to Fredericton too, because I feel like whenever I get off island it is to Halifax or Moncton.  I love both places, don't get my wrong, but I am excited to be going somewhere different for a change.  I might have some other exciting news this week but I am not ready to tell you all yet, so we'll see how it goes!
Happy Sabbath Day :)

A is for Awesome

Okay, so yes I did not blog last night like I said I would, but who says anything they really mean these days right?  (I do love you all, I promise)

So, last night, I watched Easy A.  It came out back in the fall I believe.  I never got around to seeing it in theaters, mostly because I only go to movies that I really want to see in theaters and I didn't know how appropriate it would be.  I was at Jumbo sometime last week, and they were playing a trailer for it on the televisions.  It took me a moment to realize I had actually stopped in one place to watch the trailer.  Now that I look back, I must have looked like a loser, standing right by the TVs watching this trailer, but jumbo employees probably see this happen all the time (right Casey?).  So I was like, "Oh hey, that looks like sort of a cute movie", but yet I didn't rent it right then.

Lately I have also been really wanting to rent Dear John.  So yesterday as my dad and I did some driving downtown, I went to jumbo to return the movies I already had and to rent Dear John.  Then I decided, its the weekend and I am going to rent myself another movie.  So Easy A it was.

The jist of the story is; Olive is your pretty average High school girl.  She has a good reputation, is not very noticeable and clean-cut.  But, then a rumor starts and she uses that rumor to ruin her reputation, get noticed and, well, not so clean-cut.  The rumor you might wonder- That she has lost her virginity.

I am not so great at giving reviews, but I am better at giving my opinion.  Other than some of language, I did like this movie.  I thought it was one of the better movies out there today.  I mean, to me, it is better to see a movie about a girl who is lying about having sex, than actually having sex on the big screen.  I think that is what made it funnier.  Hollywood and entertainment is trying to portray sex as such a simple thing.  This movie, you still know that is being portrayed, but not actually happening.  Some of you who decide to see this movie may disagree with me, but I thought it was funny and I'd watch it again sometime.  Also, this movie has got some great actors in it.  Penn Badgley and Amanda Bynes are two of my favorite actors and they both have some time on the screen in this one.

Last night, I also stayed up late and watched Dear John.  While I was watching it, I was talking to Haig for abit on msn, but once he left and I really started watching the movie, I started to get really emotional.  It was funny because I have read the book (Nicholas Sparks, fyi) and I have seen this movie before, but for some reason I was loosing it last night while I watched it.  I am not going to give a review of this movie other than this, if you want a chick flick rather than watching The Notebook or Time Traveler's Wife  for the 400th time, RENT THIS.  It really is a good snuggle movie as well.

Tonight will be spent relaxing.  Tomorrow afternoon I am hopefully going to hang out with some girls from church, so I am looking forward to that.  I am also looking forward to my day trip with Nora to Fredericton next week to pick up Emily from school.  It will be a nice little get away for the day :).
Have a nice weekend, stay warm, and say I love you.

Lately, I have been digging nail polish.  I just love it.  I know it is winter and it is a little silly to be painting my toe nails, but i simply love how pretty it makes them look.  I have usually been buying nail polish from Wally World.  They are pretty cheap there.  Other places that carry the same brands sell them for way more.  My collection of nail polish is getting bigger and better!  I hope to have a lot of different colours by the summer so that way I can almost have my toenails painted a different colour everyday!  I do love painting my fingernails as well, but I try to stick to pinks/reds/creams and sometimes a dark purple.  These were my finds today;

Jezebel, Central Park and Blue It :)

So, tonight I am staying in, as usual.  I am going to watch movies and paint my nails and stay up late.  Yay for not working until 1pm tomorrow!  I love today.
XO, Lyssa
ps; stay tuned for some movie reviews later tonight!

Status Cloud

So, facebook has this app where it takes a bunch of words from your past statuss' and makes it into a picture.  I think it is really neat because it makes words have some more meaning to me.  Go on facebook and give it a try! :)

smile, though your heart is aching.

This weekend has been a bore.  Friday I worked all day and then came home and took a nice bubble bath!  I took a run outside on Thursday night and it resulted in my legs being quite sore.  This is what happens when you don't run for a long time...  Saturday I had to work.  I have not worked a Saturday shift in awhile, but this one was not too bad because it was crazy busy which made the day go by faster.  Saturday was not a great day though.  While making breakfast, I made a mess and then I turned into quite a mess.  Last night while I had a little breakdown, I realized how ungrateful I can sometimes be.  So, instead of being a sooky baby, I toughened up, relaxed and went to bed early (well, what actually happened was passing out while watching Wall-E).  Today was a lovely Sabbath day.  Instead of hanging out in Nursery, they needed a substitute in Sunbeams (3 year olds), so I volunteered to do that.  No idea why...  It wasn't so bad.  I taught them a lesson on Why Heavenly Father created this beautiful world for us.  Can you tell me why?  Because He loves each and everyone of us!  I know that He Loves me, and I know that he Loves you, and you and YOU!  This week should be pretty good but also pretty busy.  I work full days on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  Tomorrow is Islander day.  My plans are to stay inside, go driving, make cookies and watch a movie perhaps.  I love days off :) especially when my family will be home to spend it with me!

A little quote to get your week started off!
I love you all :), thanks for making my life more beautiful

In one month...

This time last year, I had no idea what The Phantom of the Opera was even about.  But then... on our band trip to New York City, we saw it on Broadway, and it was spectacular and amazing and beautiful.  Haig and I watched the movie when he came over for prom last June, and Megan and I watched it at the end of the summer.  Recently, we found out that this ballet was coming to preform it, and so, a couple of weeks ago, we got our tickets.  On March 17th, Haig Pinsent, Megan Smith, Casey Ford, Kayla and Alyssa Fraser, will be attending 'The Phantom of the Opera' presented by the Atlantic Ballet of Canada!

We are just a little excited... no big deal.  Of course it will not be as good as broadway, but the story is still beautiful and I think it will be quite interesting to see it without words.  The dance is the script.

Off to work for the whole day... for the next three days... Wish me Luck.

The Card+Wednesday Blues

Here is the super cute card that I made for Haig for Valentine's day.

He makes my heart skip a beat :)

Today has been pretty sucky.  I had a Doctor's appointment this morning and then I had to pick up a prescription that was 55 bucks!  I just wanted to yell at the Pharmacist and tell him that I am not made of money!  I am 18 years old, I am working and living at home... I am not suppose to feel broke, but yet I do all of a sudden.  Yesterday I paid my phone bill and today I also sent some money to UPEI.  So basically in the past two days, I have spent $200.  Money is so frustrating.  I am happy that I know what matters more than money like family, friends and loved ones.
I finally get to go to Sign Language class tonight, it has been way too long.

And here is a Red Balloon, I think of you and Let it go

A couple of weeks ago, I told Haig that for Valentine's Day, I wanted 99 Red Balloons.  I was inspired when I told my friend Jess that she should do a photo shoot with red balloons.  Also, the retro pop song came to mind.  And so, Saturday afternoon, Haig granted my wish.  Have I mentioned lately that I love him A LOT!
Be Jealous people, it is not everyday that you get to sit in a room filled with 99 red balloons.

One Great Weekend

For those of you who don't know me so well, I do love to dance.  Sometimes at a dance, I will just randomly go and dance up a storm, by myself.  It lets me let loose and dance my cares away.  Although, many other things this weekend helped me to throw my cares away as well...Like this girl right here!  My Laura Beth.  She is the sweetest gal around.  She almost didn't come to the dance on Friday night but I am so glad that she did because she made it more enjoyable for me, especially when I got to laugh at her awkward moments on the dance floor.

Roger and Laura are in love, Haig is just lurking.

Haig and I got back to his house around One AM.  We relaxed for awhile and then made our way (or separate ways I should say) to bed.   Saturday morning when I spent some time with Rachel and Emma.  Rachel left us on Saturday afternoon to spend her February break with her boyfriend Jon who lives in Saint John, New Brunswick.  Once Haig was up, we got ready and headed over to the mall for a little shopping trip.  I came out with a new hoodie from Aero and a men's cardigan from H&M.  I shopped in the men's section with Haig because I found the women's section very overwhelming and could not find anything that really stood out to me.  When we got back to home in the afternoon, the fam was watching 'Life as we know it'.  It was a very cute movie is you are thinking about seeing it!

Sunday morning, I drove over to Halifax with Amanda Smith to go to a Ladies Valentine's Brunch hosted by Ms. Laura O'Hearon :)

Laura was such a cute hostest and her house was filled with cute Valentine's day decor.  We ate and talked and laughed.  After brunch, we had a game of spoons and then we got ready for church.  These gals are so lovely.  I am not close with all of them, but they are all so sweet, fun and loving!
Haig met me at Singles Ward and it was great as usual!  I really enjoy Singles Ward, the people are so great and it is nice to be surrounded by people who are around my own age.
We got back to Haig's house around dinner time.  We ate and then just layed low for the night.  We turned on Music and Lyrics around 11:30.  I fell asleep for the most part of the movie, but I was cuddled up with Haig so it was all good.

So, I apologize in advance, but I am so happy that I was not single this Valentine's Day.  I am also sorry that I feel bad for all those who celebrated S.A.D (Singles Awareness Day), because I have the best boyfriend around and I love being his.

We went skating, and it was so great.  I think skating is about as cheesy as you can get on Valentine's Day.  The ice at the little pond that we went to wasn't so great, but we still enjoyed ourselves.

We walked back after about 45 minutes of skating time.  I took a nap while Haig prepared us a Valentine's day dinner date.  I tried to go upstairs, but he wouldnt let me.  It was so cute.  So, I went back downstairs and slept a little more.  While in and out of a sleeping state, I realized that everyone had left.  When Haig came downstairs, he told me that his mom had given us the house to outselves to eat dinner and to go upstairs and put on some nice clothes.  So, I got myself all prettied up and Haig did the same.  When I was all done, Haig came and got me and led me out to the living room where he had set the table up all nice and romantic.  For dinner, he had made (by request by me) Pizza and Ceasar Salad.

I Love Love Love this boy and I Love Love Loved my weekend spend with him, his family and YSA friends.
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as much as I enjoyed mine :)

It's friday, I'm in Love

I've made it.  Finally the day where I get to get off this Island and spend some time with my boy.  I am very excited.  Things have not been too bad lately though.  Like last night, I went to the mall with my bestest friend Casey.  After some shopping, we went over to the Mallett's house to chill and watch Greys with Nora and Eric.  I think I am too excited to post right now, because I can't think of anything else to say.  I will just leave you with a few random things...

-I have a new obsession with nail polish.  I love it.  Right now I am wearing bright pink on my toes, and cream on my fingernails.
-I am still so proud of the card that I have made for Haig.  Pictures to come.
-I am now a fan of white hot chocolate.  Emily's dad Donald made Casey and I some last night.  It was good.  It looks like warm milk so it throws you off a little when you drink it.  Give it a try if you haven't had it before!
-I am not a fan of sandwiches, but yesterday I made a great one for lunch.  I had Sun Chips and Green Apple Jones Soda to go with it.

Find a Pen Pal
-I have never thought about having a Pen Pal before, but I think I am going to find someone that I have not been very close with, who lives far away to write to.
-I am going to be on BUSY BEE LAUREN!! Ah, so exciting.  Monday she is going to have an 'awesomepiece' post about loving someone.  So yes, I emailed her pictures of Haig and I.  I am beyond excited! So take a look at her blog on Monday!
-I am wearing an awesome shirt to the YSA dance tonight, pictures to come.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Valentine's Day.  Spend it with someone you love :)
lots of XOs, Lyssa

Don't you just love when you have a creative outburst and you just have to make something?  I was feeling that for the past couple of days.  So today, my day off of work, I spent most of my time creating this!....

Okay, well here is the thing, none of you can see it yet, because it is Haig's Homemade Valentines Day Card.  Haig is occasionally on the blog, mostly only when I tell him to go read it.  I still love him though, he's great :)
Today was rather boring other than the card making.  One more full day of work tomorrow and then I am off until next Thursday!  I need this weekend in Halifax more than anything, Charlottetown has been so boring.  I cannot wait to also see my girlies in Halifax this weekend :) Holla to Laura and Brittany (because you two are probably the only ones that will read this).   For the rest of the night, I will be making some more Valentines day preparations and watching Glee with my sister.

Monday, February 7, 2011

The rest of my weekend went well.  Saturday night I went to see a movie with my Casey face.  The movie was not so great but I just always enjoy being with Casey.  Sunday we didn't have church because it was pretty stormy.  This meant that sunday was spent knitting, watching movies and eating.  My baby sweater is making progress and I think it will be the cutest thing.  We watched Up yesterday afternoon, I just love that movie.  The balloons made me very excited for my Valentines Day gift.  For dinner, mom made delicious nachos.  Last night, Haig and I chatted away for a good part of the evening.  I did not watch the Superbowl.  I do not really understand football too much, but I waited up until 11:30, after the superbowl was over, to watch the newest episode of Glee (I understand it way better than football).  Glee was worth the wait.

Another week ahead of me.  Well, 4 days to be exact.  I am very excited for my weekend to get here and I hope the next four days can go by fast.  Today I work all day and then I am coming home to work on Valentines Day stuff...Stuff that will be kept secret for now :)

Have a good monday

A post out of boredom

Another week has come and gone, One more week to go until I get to see my love.  I can tell you one thing for sure, I am beyond excited.  The rest of the week was pretty good.  Last night I went out to dinner and the mall with my dear friend Jessica Ford.  She is awesome, foolish and such a good friend.  This is a picture of Jess and I one night when we went to the beach last summer. --->

Today I went out with mom.  I did lots of shopping but then came home and realized I own way too much of random stuff.  So, this afternoon while I watched 5 episodes of the Office and the second half of Enchanted, I also cleaned out my dresser and my closet.  I mostly got rid of a lot of socks and unmentionables that I have outgrown or that just dont as much attention as the others.

Today I also bought yarn to start a baby sweater that I am going to knit!  If I want to knit my babies cute sweaters someday, why not start on this project now?  I got a baby yarn in a 'Fresh Green' Colour.

Hope you are all having a splendid weekend, a wonderful sabbath day tomorrow and an entertaining Super Bowl Sunday ( I am more looking forward to Glee, but hey, I enjoy football too!).

Today has been a great day.
Life is not always perfect, mostly because of the little things...
Let me explain.

Big thing: I woke up this morning in a great mood.
Little thing: I realized today will be the same as every other day.

Big thing: I am in love.
Little thing: My love is over 300kms away.

Big thing: The fraser family has a new car.
Little things: I cannot drive it yet and it is not exactly what I want but it is good for my family's needs.

Big thing: I got accepted to UPEI.
Little thing: I don't know if I am going there yet.

Big thing: I had to go to work.
Little thing: I had to go to work.  What else is new?

Big thing: I feel great tonight!  I am happy and I am currently all snuggled in my bed watching P.S I love you.  I am eating popcorn, strawberries and a snickers bar and drinking Hot Chocolate.  Life is good.
Little thing: Nothing, life is good!

Oh, and Love rocks.  Enough said.
Good night and Sweet Dreams!
XO, Lyssa!

Let's talk about my bed shall we?

Yesterday I decided it was time to give my bedsheets and blankets a trip to the washing machine.  Not that they were really dirty or anything, just because it is always nice to get into a clean, warm bed.  Mom and I also gave my futon mattress a good vacuum because it was getting a little nasty.  After making my bed all pretty like this when I got home from work,  I realized my bed is awesome and I love it!  So I just wanted to take a moment to share with you how awesome it really is.

See that Lime Green and Blue Animal Print Blanket on top?  That is called a Quillow!  It can be transformed into into a pillow, but I like to use it as a blanket.  Haig thinks its ugly, but I love it.

That knitted blanket at the end of my bed, was made by my mother.  I want to learn to knit as well as she can someday.  I am going to start knitting a baby sweater soon which I am excited about.

The I Heart R.M's pillow.  I made this last summer at girls camp.  For those of you who do not know what an R.M is, it is Return Missionary.  Like I have said about it before, it is a Mormon girl thing.

The Haig Monster.  Haig's mom made us all monsters for Christmas, Haig and I switched, so he has me and I have him!

The Long body pillow that you see, that was the inspiration for our (Kayla and I) room.  We have the curtains that match it and everything else was matched to them.  We love it.

Last but not least, my two other stuffed animals.  Let's get one thing straight, I do not sleep with them.  I cuddle with Ralphie a lot, but I do not fall asleep with him.  Ralphie was given to me by my love this Christmas.  We went to Build a Bear to get him stuffed together, it was a cute day.  I won Johnny Dieppe (the little Dalhousie Tiger) at a Dalhousie Information session last year.  He went to Europe, New York and Montreal with me.  He is just constant reminder of some of the great things that I have done.

And that is my bed, and I love it.  I hope you don't love it too, because this is one thing that I am not sharing!
XO, Lyssa

Life Lately

There is a lot to love about this month.  This week itself has even been pretty good.  I am working and I am also getting lots of time to hang out with close friends.  Monday night, Megan came over and stayed the night.  She is on her exam break.  We watched She's the Man and 27 Dresses.  What would you do if you found out your favorite love song was just written about a sandwich?  I would not be too happy myself, but Megan found that quote from 27 Dresses hilarious.  Yesterday I went to work from 10-6 and then I did some shopping with Mom last night.  I also got to chat with Brittany for abit last night and Haig called me right before bed as well :).

It is now Wednesday and this week is just flying by.  Does anyone know where time is flying?  Because I honestly don't.  But, although time is flying by, I am content.  I would like the next couple of weeks/months to go by quick for a couple of reasons;
1. Next week- Going to Halifax
2. Getting accepted to UPEI
3. Going to the temple in March and then having Haig over.
4. Easter!  It is one of my favorite holidays
5. May, my birthday month, and then it is basically one month closer to SUMMER!

Life is great, I am in love and I have got some of the best people in my life.
