Dear Daddy

Fathers Day
June 19th 2016

Dear Daddy,
I know we haven't met yet, but I just wanted to tell you that I love you very much. I love how excited you are to welcome me into your life. I love how much you love my mommy, even when she can be cranky and stubborn. I know she loves you too because I can feel it. I know you will take very good care of us. I can tell that this month has been hard for you and mommy, but I know you are both stronger because of it. I am looking forward to having hard working parents that hope to do the best they can to provide for me and give me a good home to learn and grow. You are going to be an amazing daddy. You are so funny, loving and kind. Thanks for making mommy some really great meals too, I am happy you are so good to her. I know me coming along won't all be rainbows and sunshine, but even on the darker days, just love me no matter what because I will love you always. Thank you daddy for  being worthy and righteous and seeking to do good for your family and friends.  Thank you for pursuing your education amidst the challenges in your path. We are going to have so much fun together! I know we will find things that we will enjoy doing together. I can't wait for you to teach me so many things, because you're really smart (smarter than mommy). But mommy is sweet, and soft and very sensitive. You are so careful and wonderful to her, she is grateful for it with all her heart.

This is your first Fathers Day daddy. I am 10 weeks old. I love you, see you soon.

Look!

13 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white.
14 And it came to pass that I saw the heavens open; and an angel came down and stood before me; and he said unto me: Nephi, what beholdest thou?
15 And I said unto him: A virgin, most beautiful and fair above all other virgins.
16 And he said unto me: Knowest thou the condescension of God?
17 And I said unto him: I know that he loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things.
18 And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh.
19 And it came to pass that I beheld that she was carried away in the Spirit; and after she had been carried away in the Spirit for the space of a time the angel spake unto me, saying: Look!
20 And I looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a child in her arms.
21 And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father! Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?
22 And I answered him, saying: Yea, it is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things.
23 And he spake unto me, saying: Yea, and the most joyous to the soul.
24 And after he had said these words, he said unto me: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men; and I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.
25 And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God; and I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God.
26 And the angel said unto me again: Look and behold the condescension of God!
27 And I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world, of whom my father had spoken; and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before him. And the Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him; and after he was baptized, I beheld the heavens open, and the Holy Ghost come down out of heaven and abide upon him in the form of a dove.
28 And I beheld that he went forth ministering unto the people, in power and great glory; and the multitudes were gathered together to hear him; and I beheld that they cast him out from among them.
29 And I also beheld twelve others following him. And it came to pass that they were carried away in the Spirit from before my face, and I saw them not.
30 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the heavens open again, and I saw angels descending upon the children of men; and they did minister unto them.
31 And he spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Lamb of God going forth among the children of men. And I beheld multitudes of people who were sick, and who were afflicted with all manner of diseases, and with devils and unclean spirits; and the angel spake and showed all these things unto me. And they were healed by the power of the Lamb of God; and the devils and the unclean spirits were cast out.
32 And it came to pass that the angel spake unto me again, saying: Look! And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was taken by the people; yea, the Son of the everlasting God was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record.
33 And I, Nephi, saw that he was lifted up upon the cross and slain for the sins of the world.
34 And after he was slain I saw the multitudes of the earth, that they were gathered together to fight against the apostles of the Lamb; for thus were the twelve called by the angel of the Lord.
35 And the multitude of the earth was gathered together; and I beheld that they were in a large and spacious building, like unto the building which my father saw. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Behold the world and the wisdom thereof; yea, behold the house of Israel hath gathered together to fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
36 And it came to pass that I saw and bear record, that the great and spacious building was the pride of the world; and it fell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, that shall fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

Haig Pinsent, I love you with all my bump. I would say heart, but my bump is bigger. Thanks so much for all you do for our little family. We are so grateful for your hard work and devotion to your schooling, church callings, work obligations and family responsibilities. I know that lately I have not been the easiest person to get along with. You always make sure I am doing okay no matter how much you have going on. We are so lucky to be yours.

All Moms Deserve a Postpartum Babymoon

This may not be what you think. No we are not going on a tropical vacation once baby is born, quite the opposite actually. I have been a little anxious lately thinking about what the first few weeks at home will be like. I am already feeling a sense of loneliness with Haig going back to school and work during those first few weeks. I worry about people dropping by without notice to "be helpful", when really I just want some alone time to bond with my new baby. I hope people will be considerate of our wishes and let us know when they would like to visit. If it's not a good time, I will tell them for sure. I need to be comfortable getting to know my own baby in my own home without lots of guests around. We are more than happy to have people over to meet our new baby, but with some notice.

nursery goals

I love these prints that are going up on the wall of our baby's nursery. We even have a print picked out if we have a girl, but this Greg Olsen print was given to us as a wedding present. I hope baby will know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love them. I hope they will learn that the temple is the House of God on Earth and that families can be together forever.

BABY It's Cold Outside

My mom along with some wonderful sisters in our Relief Society organization planned a cute and simple baby shower for me. It was only fitting to have the theme of "baby, it's cold outside" for our little winter baby. I will admit that I helped to get some of  decorations ready because I have been on pinterest so much lately ;) We had the shower on Thursday, December 1st and lots of sisters came out to celebrate Baby Pinsent. My Auntie Karen was also able to be there along with my best friend Casey and my favorite neighbours Amanda and Lauren. We had delicious doughnuts, fudge, crackers & spinach dip and hot apple cider. Baby got lots of great gifts like sleepers, stuffed animals, wash cloths, wipes, lotions, blankets and even a swing. I am going to wait to make thank-you cards in the new year to go along with our birth announcement, mostly so everyone can have a sweet picture of our sweet baby! Thanks to my sweet husband too for coming to help us at the end of the night!

Winnie Loves Baby

Dear Winnie,
I appreciate how much you have calmed down these last few months. You were a very playful puppy all summer but you have really mellowed out. I like when I come home to visit and you no longer feel the need to jump on me. I think you know the little load I am carrying. There have been a couple times now when we have curled up to take a quick nap. You get distracted very easily by car doors or small noises around the house, but I think you know when you rest your head on my belly that there's something in there. I hope you will be nice to baby. Please be nice to baby, or I will be a pretty sad momma. I hope to watch you both grow up together, because Winnie, you are becoming a very good dog.
Love, Alyssa

Kristy and Alan Got Married!

Last Saturday my sweet friend KRISTY got married to her husband ALAN. I am so happy for them. After a crazy day at the temple in Halifax, they arrived back to PEI just in time for their wedding reception to start. Kristy made such a beautiful bride. Their reception at our chapel was fun filled. I chatted with lots of our friends and families. They had some really great food, like hello chocolate fondue fountain, don't mind if I do! Their first dance was so sweet and so well rehearsed, very impressive! Kristy wore a red gown for part of the evening as Chinese tradition. I wish them all of the happiness in the world as they start their lives together. Eternal Marriage is so wonderful.

I had to wear sneakers to their wedding because I don't have any dress shoes that fit me anymore!!!

GILMORE GIRLS: A Year in the Life

Last Friday, my husband sat by my side (he was probably only there for the food: hamburgers, fries, poptarts & hot chocolate) and we watched all 4 episodes of The Gilmore Girls, A Year in the Life.

I was pretty disappointed with the revival. It is such a shame too because I was really looking forward to seeing all my favorite characters again. The problem was that everything was still a mess, there was still some fighting, might I add cheating and drinking. I was not impressed with the situations they put Rory Gilmore in. I had really hoped that she would have her life somewhat figured out by now. The 'year' long revival was mostly about how she didn't have her life figured out, at 32 years old. It just seemed very sad to me. I enjoyed Lorelei's story line and I also enjoyed seeing her relationship change with her mother. And Luke Danes, what a guy. He was looking great with his salt and pepper hair, and more of it than in then what he ever had in the series haha! I will from this day forward forever be Team Jess, and I don't care what any of you have to say about it.

Rory and Jess make the most sense. Come at me bro if you don't agree with this.

LIGHT THE WORLD

I am so excited about this initiative that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is promoting this Christmas season. Every day leading up to Christmas is a chance to look at the things Jesus Christ did. We can resolve to do those same things and together we can celebrate His birth by making the world a brighter place. All we have to do is follow Him -- His life, His example, His teachings.

If you are interested in working on this over the month of December, one of my favorite blogs The Small Seed has a package for you to download to track your service. Invite your family and friends to join with you. I promise that serving others this Christmas season will bring you more joy than any gift you receive under your Christmas tree. Share your experiences using the hashtag #LIGHTtheWORLD so others can feel uplifted and encouraged to serve and love others.
