Amanda got Married!

Just a little bit of a shout out post today, because my sweet, life-long friend got married in Alberta today! I am so so happy for Amanda and her new husband Brock. Amanda and I have been through so much together and I wouldn't change a thing, well maybe except for the fact that we live on opposite sides of the country, but the east coast has my heart. I laugh out loud thinking of silly times we've had together and inside jokes that are still hilarious to this day (bearded steak, angry eyes, code purple...) I can't wait to see this girl again soon with her HUSBAND. Like I said before, many times, being married is the best and I hope she enjoys it just as much as I do!

I just looked through most of our facebook friendship to find these pictures. Our friendship is epic.

Congratulations to Brock & Amanda

the best deal ever

I was in Superstore recently and I usually look in the floral department and try and convince myself not to buy any flowers. I love having flowers in the house! They always look so nice and inviting. I went in to buy some stuff for my parent's anniversary party but I stopped to have a look and ask the floral department clerk what kind of sales they would have on flowers later in the week. I couldn't help but notice about 5 large pails of bouquets that were all marked on sale for 99 cents. I had to do a triple take and finally I asked the clerk "are all these bouquets 99 cents?!" and she replied yes. I went through the store to pick up a couple of things for the party and on my way out I stopped and bought three bouquets, one for a friend, one for mom and one for me. It was the best deal I've had in awhile and I needed those somewhat fresh but still very pretty flowers on my table to get me through the week!

beach baby

On Saturday, we were suppose to have a day trip to the beach with some of my friends, but the weather was calling for rain and thundershowers. Since we live on PEI though, the weather prediction was wrong and it was gorgeous all day. We decided to go to lunch as a group instead and I wore pants and a cardigan because I was cold when we were at home before we left. I was soo hot during our lunch. When we got back to the car I told Haig that I needed to go to the beach in a bad way! We got ready quickly and we went to Ross' Lane beach in the late afternoon. We had a nice time chatting in the water about our plans for the next few months, took a couple walks and had a nice time laying in the sun. We made a stop on our way home from the beach, and when I got home I took a shower and put my pajamas on before 7:00pm. We had a nice relaxing evening after a nice day off!

Pokemon GO

So, we jumped on the bandwagon with the new game Pokemon GO. Haig really wanted to get it before it was legal in Canada but I kept asking him to just wait a couple more days, and soon enough it was out! He picked me up late at work one night and I asked him to bring me some clothes to change into and we went on our first walk to catch some Pokemon! It is a really fun game. Haig really enjoys the nostalgic feeling he gets when he plays it. It really brings back his childhood for him of collecting cards and playing in battles. I only had the game for a couple of days because my phone battery is draining pretty fast these days, I think I will be needing a new phone pretty soon, at least before baby comes along. We have been on a couple more walks with friends and we still enjoy it a lot. Well, I enjoy the walking and Haig enjoys playing. I don't know how long it will be until it starts to phase out, but for now we will enjoy it!

our little one

This pregnancy has been so interesting for me this far. We were trying to have a baby, and obviously the timing was right because it didn't take us very long. The first couple of weeks were filled with worry and anxiety. I was not as sick as I thought I would be, which also worried me because I didn't think my body was doing what it was suppose to be doing. We had an early ultrasound because I was very convinced that nothing was happening inside of me, but there was life. We have heard the heartbeat twice now and it is the neatest sound I have ever heard. I have really learned that pregnancy is so different for every woman. It is a unique and sacred experience for each of us. I have a baby inside of me and that is pretty amazing. We are so excited to be parents to this little one. I was still nervous about posting, although I am 15 weeks along now, due January 11th 2017, I still do worry something might go wrong. I try and remain strong and positive. If something did happen, now I have a strong network of friends, family and loved ones to support us. I have received so much strength from the good wishes and excitement of sharing it on social media. I hope that the rest of the journey will be just as exciting for everyone involved, especially for my husband and I as we begin to plan and prepare for this new little one to come into our lives. I love you our sweet baby Pinsent.

Any ideas of baby hashtags would be appreciated (hahahha)

student loans, and school and stuff

The other night, Haig and I applied for his student loan for his second year at UPEI. Let me be the first to say I have a love/hate relationship with student loans. The application process sucks, but it has definitely improved over the years of applying. All things went smoothly when we applied for Haig this year, but I am worried that we will have to be reassessed during the year because I may not be working as much as we hope. I am in repayment of my student loans now and it sucks a lot. I try and pay a little more than my required monthly payment each month because I hope we can have mine paid off by the time Haig is done school, or even sooner. I am not however in any way ashamed of taking out student loans. They offered me the flexibility to pay for my schooling while working part time to make money for other bills and things I needed to purchase. Student loans teach you a lot about responsibility. The interest rate kind of sucks, but like I said, I didn't have any other options at the time for my tuition payments. We don't have a lot of other options right now for Haig's payments for school. We will look into more scholarships and bursaries this year once the school year starts. School is expensive. We hope this debt, hard work and dedication pays off for the both of us. I love my husband more than anything and I am so glad he is in school at this time, and didn't put off his schooling anymore than he already had. I am so proud of the grades that he achieved this past year, and although some things didn't work out to our advantage, I know there will be lots of other wonderful opportunities in his path in the coming months and years!

Young Women at the Beach

Last week for our young women's activity, Tracy, Paige, Erin and I went to get some ice cream and go for a walk on the beach. Emma and Ellie are gone to Utah for summer vacation, we missed them but the four of us had a nice time! Paige has got eye when it comes to photography. She has been taking lots of pictures recently so I was happy to see that she brought her camera on this outing to take some. The sky was so beautiful and we all found some neat things on the beach. Thanks for these wonderful pictures Paige, I am so glad someone is doing such a good job of documenting summer, because I am not doing so great!

Kayla and Keaton

Just a little shout out to KAYLA & KEATON. Long story short: Kayla and Keaton met last summer in Newfoundland. Started talking again this past April when Keaton moved back home to Alberta. They like a lot of the same things like Star Wars, family, friends, the gospel, the Maritimes and adventures! When they started talking a lot more in the spring, they realized they liked each other! Kayla recently went on a trip out to Edmonton to see Keaton and meet his family. Keaton will be coming to PEI next month to see Kayla and to meet our awesome family! I have been able to see such a sweet, new and loving side to my sister. She is making some great decisions in her life at this time to grow, learn and also fall in love. I can't wait to meet Keaton and maybe go on a double date to play Pokemon Go, and probably eat some food too, and maybe watch Star Wars.

Susan's 70th

I just wanted to share a couple of pictures of our beautiful family that was here visiting Prince Edward Island late in June. We were so blessed to spend time with all of them. We had beautiful weather all week. I hope they all enjoy the rest of their summer and we hope that someday we can all be together, on PEI again!

CHARMAINE IS GETTING MARRIED

Last night I went to a sweet bridal shower for my friend Charmaine. She is marrying her sweetheart John next month. They are heading back to Alberta soon so I was happy we were able to do some celebrating here before their big day out west. We went to a lovely picnic at her family's home a couple weeks ago, but last night was all about the bride! I was so happy to see her getting gifts that she will use in her home as a new wife. Being a wife is so much fun! When I had my "church" bridal shower, I got the typical kitchen stuff, so I was a little disappointed when I didn't get anything to "wear", and I am not talking about anything scandalous, but I think every new wife needs to feel cute, comfy and of course a little sexy, So I got Charmaine a cute night dress and underwear and some of the reactions from the women at church were hilarious! The set I bought her was very tasteful, but from the looks on some of the faces it would seem like I bought her something VERY risqué Oh to be a young, fun wife. Charmaine, I hope you love being married as much as I do! I think you will because I know John has become your best friend, and that makes everything better in marriage!

STRAWBERRY SEASON

I LOVE Strawberry season on PEI. Picking strawberries this time of year is a long standing tradition for my family and I. We used to go to a place close to our house called the llama ranch and we would pick lots of strawberries to freeze during the winter months. My family loves making waffles so we usually freeze a couple of cups of sliced (about 3 cups) strawberries in a bag with about a 1/4 cup of sugar! So delicious and so easy. I really wanted to try making jam this year, but I just didn't have time for it this year because I am working a lot this week. So last Saturday mom and I picked a whole flat of strawberries and took them home to bag and freeze them. I went again yesterday and picked 6 more boxes to put in my freezer for the next couple of months.

Now I really want some waffles!

FREAK LUNCHBOX CHARLOTTETOWN

We finally have a Freak Lunchbox in Charlottetown, PEI! This kind of store is exactly what Charlottetown needs. It is so fun and charming! We went on a late night trip to the store this weekend to buy a couple of things to take home to chill and watch How I Met Your Mother (great show, by the way!). I can't get over their selection of unique candy and gag gifts and most of all, JONES SODA.

more pictures, and many more trips to come soon!

MOM & DAD

I am getting super excited about planning an anniversary party for my parents 30th at the end of this month! I have a couple of things that I am working on for the party, including the decorations, food preparations, invites and so on. One thing that I have been working on the last couple of days is a photo slide show of my parents. Most of the pictures that I have on my computer are from more recent years, but I am hoping to get home soon to go through some of our older photo album and picture CD's. Here are some of my favorites so far!

HOW WE WORE IT: WORKOUT CLOTHING

The look that was chosen for "an ode to workout clothing" and the style inspiration was from
Looks for Lovelies.

I have a lot of workout clothing that is not being worn. The funny thing about this is I worked at Reebok for three years so I always got really good deals on workout tops, bottoms and sneakers and because my sister still works near the store she knows when there are good deals on for me to go in.

I may be the only one to admit this in the series, but I do not work out,as in go to the gym. I do however love to go on walks, run, swim and dance every once in awhile. My job as a caregiver at a seniors' home can be quite the workout most days! I have always been happy with my physique but I do know that it is very important to have an active lifestyle. Right now my favorite way to "work out" is going on a walking adventure with Haig. We recently found a new cool place to walk, I hope we can get back to it soon!

Please don't mind my really really bad iphone pictures for this month's post. We have been super busy and my go-to photographer (sister) has been away and working a lot. My husband did a pretty good job dealing with my foolish ways this time around. My arm looks soo weird in that stretching pose..

I have also decided this post should be called "when was the last time I actually went to the gym?" Also, does anyone else remember when lululemon was pretty much the most beloved yoga pant on the planet...
