Kaa Kaa Kaa KAYLA

I love my sister.  She is reading this blog right now and she's probably like "Why would she do this?"  Well, Because I love you that's why sillly face!  Kayla is not doing too much this summer and I wish I could be home more to spend time with her, but I am happy I will be home a lot in the fall.  While all my friends are dealing with school work (and myself included), as Haig leaves on a mission and Amanda moves out west, I will always have my Kayla.  She will be a constant rock for my throughout my life.  Kayla, you are a doll, you are a sweetheart, and don't let anyone tell you other wise.  I want the best for you and I want you to be the best that you can be.  You can do this.

Why, Why, Why?

Why does my day off work have to be gross and cloudy?  Why does my closet have to be so fussy? Why does my boyfriend's phone suddenly stop working?

Cause sometimes life is mean!

HEY guys.  So Life has not been very exciting lately.  I work for the past couple of days, have talked on the phone with Haig night after night and have been in a war with my closet.  Today is my only day off work this week.  I went to UPEI this morning to finish some stuff with my courses.  I got placed into a 2nd Year French Course, which I am a little excited and nervous about.  The closet wars started on Monday night when I cleaned out my closet and dresser drawers.  I did not get rid of a lot, but it was nice to get it more organized.  I have been on the search for some cute closet organizers and I finally found some and its coming together.  Just need some more hangers and a shoe storage and we are all set!  I went in to Jumbo last night to visit Casey at work.   She is a trouper and worked for 13 and a half hours yesterday!  She is so awesome.  Anyways,  I rented the 3rd season of Gossip Girl so I will be watching that for the next couple of days.  Just for fun.  I wish I could go to parties on the Upper East Side and live in the lime light.  But just for one night.

And that's that.

'Mormons do really know how to party'

Is what Kayla said as we drove her to work this morning before Amanda and I went to church.  Yesterday was a pretty decent day at work, but Amanda, Kayla and I could not contain our excitement about the plans we had that night.  Friday, We decided that we would have a sleepover.  Amanda's family is away this weekend and had the house to herself, so it was perfect.  So yesterday after work, we made our way over to my house to get all my stuff.  We then proceeded to take Kayla on her first shopping trip to Value Village.  She had never been before and wanted to go.  They did not find anything, but I found two skinny belts that I really liked that will be featured in a dress up post coming soon (once I have something to dress up for...).  From there we went to Smart Set where Kayla found a couple of deals.  Then we went grocery shopping.  We came out of that Super Store an half hour later with two pizzas, multigrain nachos, ketchup chips, cheesecake and cinnamon rolls for the morning.  If I lived with these girls, I would spend way too much money on groceries.  We made our way to Amanda's.  We ate, took a drive, got pretty, took pictures, facebook lurked and watched A Walk to Remember.  Oh, and most importantly, we had a great time and we could not stop laughing all night!

Loving these girls makes life worth it :)

Yay for sleepovers!

Oh Emma.

" I find the whole concept of being ‘sexy’ embarrassing and confusing. If I do an interview with photographs people desperately want to change me - dye my hair blonder, pluck my eyebrows, give me a fringe. Then there’s the choice of clothes. I know everyone wants a picture of me in a mini-skirt. But that’s not me. I feel uncomfortable. I’d never go out in a mini-skirt. It’s nothing to do with protecting the Hermione image. I wouldn’t do that. Personally, I don’t actually think it’s even that sexy. What’s sexy about saying, ‘I’m here with my boobs out and a short skirt, have a look at everything I’ve got?’ My idea of sexy is that less is more. The less you reveal the more people can wonder."
- Emma Watson

I found this on facebook yesterday and I love it, love her and love her statement!  Growing up in the church has sometimes been difficult, especially when it came to dressing modestly.  I am proud to say that I have not and will not lower my dressing standards for anyone of any event.   More is better, and modest is most defiantly hottest.  Here is a celebrity saying it herself.  A girl who does not have to worry about what she puts on everyday, but she does anyways.  She is truly awesome.

Sunny Days

The past couple of days have been awesome!

Monday-  I worked from 10-6.  It was actually a pretty decent day.  It went by fast and it was a fun day.  After work I came home and did a couple chores so that I didn't have to do them the next day.  Later on that night, I went to Boston Pizza with Jess and we got Chocolate Explosions.  It was so yummy.  We got caught in a down pour when we were walking back to her van and then we both went home.

Tuesday-  My day off work :).  I got up early though because mom and I had to file for my student loan.  That was not fun.... but atleast it is done now.  After we finished that, we went downtown to drop something off for it and then did a couple of other things.  They had some great sales on at Smart Set.  I got two new silk tank tops and a cute little shirt.  It was pretty decent.  When I came home I had some lunch and then sat in the kiddie pool all afternoon.  I have a nice tan to show for it too!  Last night, Megan, Kayla and I went swimming at the CARI Pool, and it was a good time.  When I came home, me and my man chatted on the telephone for abit and then it was bedtime.

Today-  I just know it is going to be a good day.  I work from 1-9 which is usually a good shift.  I am in a good mood, so I hope the people I work with will be in good moods too!  I just love this sunshine so much and I am so grateful that it finally decided to come out!

Oh Mister Sun, Sun, Mister Golden Sun, Please don't go away!

My Code Purple

Yesterday after church, I found out from Charmaine and Amanda that a friend of ours who use to come to church was in the hospital.  We decided that it would be best to go to see her.  Emily MacEachern joined us later on in the afternoon and we went to say hello and to see how she was doing.  It was nice to catch up with her and I hope she makes a full recovery.  Before leaving the hospital, Amanda's mom also wanted her to go see a lady from the summerside branch who is in the hospital getting a knee replacement.  Amanda and Charmaine went into her unit because there was a limit of two people to one patient in that area.  Emily and I found a family room to wait in for awhile to chat in.  While chatting, we heard 'Code Purple, Room 113'.  We were curious as to what this was.  I am not really a fan of hospitals, so to have heard a code, we wanted to know what the heck was going on.   We wandered back down the the waiting room that was outside the unit.  We waited a couple more minutes and then Charmaine came out solo.  "So, Amanda fainted..." was Charmaine's news to us.  Amanda was the Code Purple (which we later found out is someone who is visiting someone in the hospital who takes a fall, stumble or faints).  They took her down to the ER, got her blood pressure, blood sugar, la di da... and they they assesed her to see if she needed to see a doctor in the ER.  And she did.... After the nurse went to get her dressed they came back to get us and we went and sat in the ER room with Amanda.  In a gown, with a heart monitor attached to her chest and one of those things that they put on your finger (we were not sure what this is for... Laura Beth or Brittany-- what's that for?).  The doctor came to see her a couple of minutes later, nothing was wrong and we were good to go.

I just love little moments like this in life.  Sunday morning when I woke up, I decided that when I got home in the afternoon I would just lay back and relax, write some blog posts, read my scriptures and just take it easy.  Funny how one little thing can change it all.  Going in to the hospital to visit a friend and then my best friend taking a faint spell causing us to stay in the hospital an extra two hours... it made for a good adventure.  I will never forget it.  The other thing I loved was that we could not stop laughing.  It was the best.  Last night my abs hurt and I am pretty sure it was from laughing so hard.

Thank you Charmaine Veitch, Emily MacEachern and especially Amanda Grinton, our Code Purple, for providing a great Sunday afternoon.

Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Ouuuu Harry Potter

contains my opinion on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two, and lots of Harry Potter excitement!
aka, stop now if you have not seen the movie yet.

It all really did End.
And not the way I was hoping it would.  About two months ago when I started to read the series for the first time, I did not think I would get into them as much as I did.  Last Wednesday night when I finished the finale instalment, I was a little choked up that it was the end.  I was also a little upset at the fact that I had not read the books up until this point.  But I am glad I finally did and that the last book was still very fresh in my mind as I went to watch the last movie.  We got in the line up outside the movie theatre around 8pm.  They did not let us inside to our theatre until about 10:15.  It was a good time outside with lots of fans, wizards, witches and I even saw a House Elf and Death Eater.  Another note, this was my first time attending a midnight show!  So now... on to the movie.  I was a little disappointed.  Yeah Yeah, I know.  I did hear from someone on an entertainment show that said people would either love it or be not so impressed.  I fall into the second category, for a couple of reasons.

1.  It is the end.  Not much else to say other than that.  It is the end of a era for me in a way.  Although I did not grow up reading the books, I did grow up watching the movies, being close to age as the movie characters, and watching the stars in the movie grow up.  They have grown up making these movies, their dedication has been amazing.  They are talented and to me Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter, Emma Watson, Hermoine and Rupert Grint, Ron Weasley.
2. The movie itself was a little odd at parts.  I don't wanna say corny because it wasnt really like that.  Maybe phoney is the word I am looking for?  Some parts just were not what I thought they would be.  People in the theatre laughed at parts that were not suppose to be funny.  For example-  When Voldemort gives Draco Malfoy a hug... People in the theatre were laughing.  Sure it was a little funny, The Dark Lord giving someone a hug?  Soo weird, but at the same time, it did not help the movie to have some comic relief.
3.  Not to my imagination.  Yeah So I did not read the books up until this point so I could not really compare the movies to the books very well, but this one I could.  Some things in this last movie were defintly not how I pictured them in the books.  Like Snape's memories, I pictured them way better than the movie portrayed them... (in my personal opinion... might be a little biased :P)
So, there you have it folks, A girl who read the Harry Potter books in less than two months and is now proud to say she is a true Harry Potter Geek.

So, as mentioned before, I am on a hunt for the best fish and chips around.  I have been a to a couple places now, but I have not documented anywhere so here is our experience at Brits!

Brits Fish n' Chips is on University Ave, right close to Province House.  It only opened this year I believe and seeing as their name has Fish n' Chips in it, you would think they would be pretty famous for them.  On monday, Haig and I had a lovely day and to end it off we went out to dinner here with Mom and Kayla.  We didn't even need menus to decide what we were getting, but got them anyways to have fun with the experience.

Cutting to the chase of what this whole hunt is about--- The Fish n' Chips at Brits were not great at all.  I feel bad seeing as this is probably one of their most popular dishes at the restaurant, but I was not impressed.  The fish was very chewy, almost like rubber.  The batter on the fish was alright, but all together it was no good.  Their fries were nothing spectacular either.

I have now been to Brits,  The old Triangle, The Gahan House and The Pilot House.  I have done about a place a week.  Anyone have a good suggestion for this week?  I am thinking it might be churchhill arms or Richard's Seafood!  Hopefully they will be better than this last experience!

all my love

Find that guy who is gonna sit in a kiddie pool with you.
Find the man who will call you beautiful instead of hot (but sometimes hot, because I like that :)
Find the boy who will sing along to Taylor Swift with you.
The one who will hold you tight like he never ever wants to let you go.
Who laughs at you when you say something completely stupid.
Find the guy who knows where you are most ticklish.
The guy that knows what t-shirt he owns is your favorite.
Find the man who places your order for you.
The one who knows how to be ridiculous but knows when to be serious.
Find he guy who will jump off a bridge with on the count of two.
The one who comes looking for you when you are nowhere to be found.
Who always flashes you his most genuine smile when he sees your face.

& Then, You will have found Love.

YoutH(ope) Conference

So, I added Hope into the title of he post because it was my group's name at conference.  The 13th Article of Faith was this year's theme for the conference and it states;

'We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things and hope to be able to endure all things.  If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.'

I loved that it was the theme for the conference because as a youth, I had never given much thought to how important this article is.  I was really honored to have such a great group of girls to look after. I did find myself at an in between stage though.  Sometimes I felt like a youth, goofing off and having fun and other times I felt like the responsible leader that I was suppose to be.  I guess that's just how it is growing up though.  Another thing, is that I am so so glad it was held at UPEI.  It was so nice to only have a ten minute drive home on saturday and then to cuddle with Haig allllll afternoon long! It was well spent.
All in all, I had a great time!

As I sit here at the desktop computer just typing whatever comes to mind, my life seems like such a blur.  The past couple of days have gone by too fast and I am longing to have them back.  Youth Conference was a decent time, but I am glad it is over. My time spent with Haig was like being on cloud nine, and now that is over as well.  We have gotten so use to saying goodbyes.  The harder part is not knowing when we will see each other next.  This morning was a rough one though.  There were some tears because I am probably one of the most stressful people you will ever meet.  I sweat the small stuff.  I am trying to prepare for school in less than two months, I am working my butt off at Reebok, I am anxiously waiting for Haig to put his papers in for his mission, and I am seriously considering going on a mission when I turn 21.  It is going to be a hard decision to make and it will take lots of time, fasting and prayer to make it.  If anyone has any suggestions for me about making a decision to serve a mission, please tell me!
As for working my butt off---I just had my nice long weekend, but now it is back to work.  I work everyday until Sunday, then I have next Tuesday off and then I work everyday again until next Sunday.  Pretty sure Reebok is my second home and Kayla, Ellen and Amanda are my new sisters!
I am pretty pumped to be working so much but at the same time it sucks a little.  My mom has been working on some of my student loan stuff for me, which I know I should be doing myself but I cannot find the time, so I am really grateful for her helping me out. I am getting to go out and do a couple of things though.  Yesterday Haig and I went bridge jumping and to the beach.  I loved it.  I loved spending every minute of my day with him.  I couldnt imagine my future being any other way.  Tomorrow night, Amanda and I are going to see Scott play in The Highland Storm.  This is his third summer in the performance and I still have not seen it once, so I am pretty pumped.  And then of course on Thursday night, I am going to the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two.  I am just a LITTLE stoked for that.  Not a big deal.  Oh, and I m almost finished of the last book.  One more thing to cross off my bucket list (read all the Harry Potter Books).

And that is how I feel tonight...

Summer Lovin'

Last week, I went to Youth Conference!  It was such a blast.  I had a great time being a leader and becoming friends with lots of the youth and other leaders who went.

I am gonna leave it at that for now, because Haig is here until Tuesday and I want to spend as much time with him as possible.  We have been loving life, its fantastic!  Today was such a good day so I will share abit of it with you now.  We went to church together.  In nursery I hung out with Jude, Issac and Eva.  It was a pretty good time.  After church, Haig and I took a picnik lunch out to a provincal park.  We layed on a blanket in the sun, ate bbq chicken sandwhiches and read some Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.  When we got home, Haig noticed the kiddie pool that Amanda Russell bought a week or so ago.  So we filled that up, got on our swim suits and bathed in the sun.  We are now watching the 1st Toy Story movie and then we will watch the 3rd (gonna skip over the 2nd one..)

Let's just say that I am loving life, loving summer and loving this guyyy :)

This one time...

So, this one time (July 1st 2011) --- The girls and I dressed up for Canada Day.  We are bombshells.

Then this other time (July 3rd 2011) , we went to go see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrive in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island!

and it was complete awesomeness!  Then this other time (July 4th 2011) , we went down to Peake's Quay at 8:30 am to say Hello to Wills and Kate!

Andddd I shook his hand, and you know what I said... "Thank you".  I mean, what was I suppose to say?  Nice to meet you maybe? Or Welcome to Prince Edward Island? But no, I said "Thank you".   Good times though, Good times.

The past week has been pretty good to say the least, and it is about to get even better!  Tomorrow is the first day of Youth Conference!  It is being held at UPEI, tomorrow until Saturday.  I am so ready to be a counsellor and take care of these my little minions. Oh, and Haig is staying over for a couple days after conference...a little excited?  Uh YES

Enjoy the sunshine my beauties!

Welcome Will and Kate!

So, Malcolm is still MIA, but I just had to write a quick blog post about what happened tonight while it is still fresh in my mind.  Pictures to come when Malcolm is back...

So tonight I, along with many other Islanders greeted the Royal Couple to our Beautiful Island!  This afternoon, Mom, Kayla and I went to the beach.  We were there for about an hour or so with no intention of going to see them arrive, but we got tired of the wind blowing the sand everywhere, so we headed back into town.  We went home and freshened up and made our way to the airport.  We sat by a gate for quite some time just goofing around and being very anxious for their arrival.  After waiting for about an hour, someone then pointed to the sky.  Making its landing was their plane, and I will admit, I screamed.  It was just a really exciting moment.  We tried to get closer to the gate to see them walking off the plane.  When this didn't work, we noticed that a lot of other people, were running to the other side of the airport building to get a closer view of the door on the plane that they were coming out of.  (ps, for those who don't know--- Charlottetown airport is not very big so the run across the span of the building did not take long at all)  So Kayla and I ran, we screamed, and we saw the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge walk off the plane.  We walked to where they would drive by and met up with mom.  A couple of minutes later they drove by and I was like a few feet away from Prince William (except he was in a car that was driving away..).  Then we made our way downtown and watched them as they entered the Lieutenant Governor's House 'Fanningbank'.

All in all, it was a very exciting experience.  It is something that I will always remember.  Running across the front of the airport to see them coming off the plane, it is just something that I will always look back on and be grateful that I had he opportunity to do.

Welcome to Prince Edward Island Will and Kate!

Poor Malcolm

So.... Malcolm(seriously, for those who don't know my laptop's name yet) is broken. But it's okay!! I'm too busy reading Harry Potter, soaking up sunshine, having dance parties at work, loving Haig Pinsent and spending time with friends and family to care! I do love and miss you all though and I will have lots to tell you when Malcolm is conscious again.
