This week has been very busy. I am a working girl and I have been working my butt off all week. I look forward to seeing a big pay cheque next week considering most of my pay cheques this year have been rather small from only working once a week. But now that I am done school, I have lots of shifts and we are currently having our Friends and Family sale which is always pretty busy. I also got a new bank account this week and I am finalizing some things for my spring courses so I have a lot on my mind. Next week, the first week of May, (can you believe it?), they gave me a couple days off work so I took the opportunity to book some shuttle tickets over to see the Pinsent family. I will enjoy the little break from work and a nice visit before I get pounded with school again.
Through all this craziness, I continue to be grateful for where I am. I am in school, paying for my education, I have a decent job and amazing friends and family to help me along the way. Time is slipping and I know this summer will go by fast but I am sure it will be a great one.
For now, I should get to bed. Last day of the sale tomorrow and one more shift on Monday, off to Nova Scotia on Tuesday!

To disclose names and the real situation, I will just leave it at this.

Stop being so dumb.

Okay, goodbye for now.

Clap, Clap, Clap, Fist Pump, Fist Pump, Fist Pump

Today, I finished my final exam of first year.

In a few weeks however, I will be returning to school to take two spring courses.  This is because I only took 4 courses a semester to lighten my load a little.  It did wonders, so I am hoping these spring courses are nice to me too!

But as for the next few weeks, I am a happy working girl and getting carried away with books to read (that are not school books), movies to watch, things to make, people to see and lots of other things to do!

Yay for me today!

They've called him on a mission

My best friend, my love, Haig Aaron Pinsent, has been called on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He is to serve a 2 year mission in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the United States of America.

I am so proud of him for coming this far.  Haig and I have been together for over two years now and I am so thankful that I have been able to see him grow from being a teenage boy to the wonderful, dashing young man that he is today.  This is such a great opportunity for him and as some of you may be surprised, I am so excited for him to leave in September and start this journey of his life.

When he called me yesterday morning and he told me that he got the call in the mail, I was so happy.  I was upset for him because no one was home to share the news with, but I was the lucky one that he called first.  I know how much he wants this and no matter where he was called to go, it would be where he needs to be.  I guess the Lord needs Haig in Minnesota :)

Haig will make a great missionary.  I know this because I know him and how much he loves this gospel.  And he also looks so good in a suit don't you think?

i love you!

Life of H & A

So much for the whole blogging everyday thing.  I tried people, up until Haig got here.  It was a nice little visit that we had.  Filled with lots of good times, laughs and drives.  We are in the process of patiently waiting on his mission call to get here to find out where he will be going.  Very exciting for him.  He is such a cool guy and he deserves this great experience!

As for me, I am patiently waiting as time goes by so slowly, to write my exams.  Everyone that I know will be done by the time I write my 1st exam on Saturday morning, one on the 18th and my last one at 2pm on the 19th.  And then I go to work full time.  This is my life and I am enjoying it.

So much for blogging everyday. I am pretty bad at making things a habit, but when Haig comes around we are busy doing other things and it just slips my mind. We have been non stop since he got here Thursday. We planned a lot of things to do before he got here so we wouldn't end up stuck at the house being bored. Thursday we did relax a little and enjoyed finally being together after two months! That has been our biggest gap in awhile. Thursday night we went out to a show and we saw a band that Laura Beth introduced me to called 'Said the whale'. We got to hear them play my favorite song, 'Big Sky' and then we made a MickeyDees run before heading home. Yesterday we spent the afternoon swimming. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to go but we ended up there and we had a fun time. We really miss the ocean though. Sometimes I forget that Haig was born in Ontario. He has definitely become a Nova Scotia boy too. He loves the water and the ocean. Last night we had a date night. We went to see Hunger Games. Haig was seeing it for the first time and regardless of the sucky theatre and bad seating, he really enjoyed the movie. After the movie, we used coupons for Boston Pizza and had a nice snack of chicken Thai bites, cactus cut fries and nachos. We took a slice of chocolate explosion cheese cake home and ate in on the floor of my bedroom. We are romantics if I must say so myself.

And yesterday was Good Friday. I had not slipped my mind. I am taking a religious studies course and our recent test on Christianity scored a low class average. I was disappointed (happy with my 22/25) but sad that the people around me did not know about Christ's life, love and divine nature. I am glad I do and I am grateful for the opportunities I have to share with others.

I am off to work today with another date night to look forward to. Have a happy Easter long weekend!

Hey Hey Hey Guys, so here are my 'grapefruit' colored jeans.  And I think they are fabulous.  What do you think?

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

My first Do-it-yourself experience has been a great success.

When I started looking for some colored jeans a couple of weeks ago to add to my summer wardrobe, I was unlucky.  I could not find the right shade and with small selection here in Prince Edward Island and my strange body type, shopping online was not going to be the best option.  I did get lucky at Winners though.  I found a pair of white jeans.  I have wanted white jeans for awhile now and I have never had the courage to buy them.  But I passed on them.  I came home later that day, and kicked myself in the butt while I searched online for colored jeans and found tutorials on how to dye jeans.  I said to myself, "HEY--I could do that".  So I rushed back to the mall and ended up buying two pairs of white jeans at Winners, each with a red price sticker that marked $20.00.  Forty bucks for two pairs of awesome jeans?  You can't go wrong.
So last week I searched for Fabric Dye and found some at Michaels craft store.  They had mostly some plain colors, but the one that stood out the most was exactly the shade I wanted (in between pink and orange).  That day, I feel in love with Grapefruit

So, to be pretty self-explanatory, if you are interested in doing this just find a dye that has the instructions and FOLLOW THEM.  If not you will not be content with your pants as I am.  I know this because I tested a tank top before doing the jeans, and I missed a couple of spots while soaking it in water so there are some different color splotches on it.  And don't forget that salt is your best friend in this experiment too.  You want the color to stay in the jean and not fade away.  And last but not least, was separately the first couple of times so the color does not get on other clothing if some does come out.

And to have some suspense... you will have to wait until tomorrow to see the outfit reveal of my new grapefruit colored jeans!
Good luck to anyone willing to try this.  I think colored jeans will be a great summer hit, and if you make dye them yourself, no one else will have the exact same pair as you and it will give you something to talk about!

Monday Monday

I decided that I would try and write a blog post everyday this month to remind myself that I am blogging for me because everyday it is different. Some days I vent, some days I appreciate and some days I just write what is on my mind. Today is a little bit of a vent about relationships. Everyone has had a time that they have tried to build a relationship with someone. Sometimes, it just does not work out for many different reasons. I have come to conclusion, that you need to stop putting it all on yourself. I tried to make a relationship work with someone who didn't put any effort in at all. So for now I am going to just take a break. It is hard and it is going to get harder but I will just keep pushing along.
I don't really like Mondays but I am quite content that it is nice and sunny outside today, still a little chilly but that is alright. And here is a sneak peek photo for you of my DYE DIY coming soon!

Mormon Girl Weekend

Once again, I have had an amazing weekend listening to words from men and women who are called of God to serve The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  We call this General Conference.  It is broadcasted all around the world in many different languages so that we as Members can listen to what the Lord wants and needs us to hear.  It is always pretty fantastic and I always look forward to a weekend where I basically tell my friends, I can't hang out this weekend, I am watching conference---because unlike most Sundays that I go to church for three hours, there are 4 sessions of conference that I go to, each two hours long.  I had to miss the first session yesterday to work, but I watched a bit of it this morning with my Momma.  Now that the sessions are over, I feel more uplifted and I have more energy to go about with the weeks ahead.

In other exciting news, Haig is going on a mission and his assignment (where he will be serving for two years) is on its way!  I am so excited for him to find out where he will be serving and preaching the gospel for those to hear.

And last but not least,  and Haig will kill me for this one; How awesome was it that Elder David Archuleta sang in the choir in the 2nd session of conference?  Well I thought it was pretty dang awesome, and so is he and so are all missionaries who are devoting two years of their life to serve the Lord!

Lots of things happening this week; school, school, school, Haig! Haig! Haig! Fun :) Fun :) Fun :)
Oh and stay tuned for my DYE-DIY
