So, what else is new?

Other than work, my summer is has not been too exciting.  I work, I come home, I eat, I spend time with my family, I talk to Haig on the phone, I hang out with friends here and there and I shop.  I shop too much actually.  Last night I went on a shopping hunt because I realized I need some new skirts.  I have been looking for ones that are more conservative and classy more than cute and frilly.  I feel as though my style is still stuck in a teeny bopper phase and I want out of it.  So I went on a hunt for a light grey pencil skirt.  I fell in love with one at Smart Set in the mall only to realize they did not have it in my size.  I asked a girl who was working to see if they had it at the store downtown, so she called and luckily enough they had size 0 and size 16 !  So, off I went to get the size 0 that is still a little big but I will get it taken in a little bit by a seamstress.  Later, at Le Chateau I did not get so lucky when they did not have my size in a pair of beautiful wedges that I could not say no to (other than the fact they did not have my size).  They were on sale for $29.99 plus 30% off that so it was gonna be a pretty good deal.  They also could not ship them to me from another store because they do not ship items under $50.  I was not a happy girl.  But I got lucky again when I got home and found them online.  I called the order in and told them about the situation I ran into so they are giving me free shipping on them too!  Just my luck :)

so a little note--- make sure you are satisfied!  I have learned this from working in retail.  Make sure you are satisfied with the product and with the service and if you are not, leave your comments and maybe good will come of it!  Like free shipping on pretty shoes :)

In other news, I had an average day at church.  Not too much to report about that.  I spend the afternoon driving and making a couple beach stops with my mom, sister and my dog Nala.  It was such a nice day and I am glad I got to spend it with them!

Here is a little head's up about what the rest of the month looks like;
This week--- Monday 1-9, Tuesday 10-6 and visiting teaching, Wednesday 1-9 and hopefully going out dancing, Thursday 10-6, Friday Off ! ,Saturday 10-6, Sunday the usual, Monday work, Tuesday work and Haig gets here, and then Hello August and a weekend with Haig!

Cape Jourimain

Over the past couple of years, it has become a tradition to spend a day at Cape Jourimain during the summer.  Cape Jourimain is in New Brunswick right after you get off of the Confederation Bridge.  The bridge offers a shuttle service to pedestrians, so it is easy to get on the shuttle from PEI and spend a couple hours on the other side, and then get back on the shuttle to come home.  The museum and nature trails at Cape Jourimain are free so it makes for a pretty cheap and fun day (other than the gas to 45 minutes from Charlottetown to the Bridge).  Two years ago (the last time we went), we decided to bring Megan along for the day.  Megan is such a fun gal and since she will be moving to Fredericton in the fall to go to school, I figured what I great opportunity to take her on this for the day.
We got to Cape Jourimain around 1pm and spend the afternoon adventuring around the area and walking under the bridge.  I told Megan to bring some stuff for University of New Brunswick to make a nice photo op of her on the other side of the bridge.  We left later in the afternoon and got COWS ice cream in Borden before heading back to Charlottetown.

It was a really good day and I am glad I got to spend it with these lovely ladies!

On another note from the day at Cape Jourimain---
When we were waiting for the shuttle in New Brunswick, we also had a biker near by who was waiting as well.  I did not think too much of him, but I realized he had a lot of packs with him for his bike.  This made me wonder if he was biking a long distance, but I still did not pay too much attention.  When the shuttle finally came, he got into the front seat with the driver.  As we drove across the bridge, I started to ease drop unto their conversation.  He is from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and since May 25th he has been biking across Canada.  He has put in over 9000 kilometers and still has Nova Scotia and Newfoundland (I think) to go.  I became some what shocked.  Here is a man, a stranger to me and I was inspired by him.  I was inspired by his dream to do this and his courage and determination that has brought him this far.  I thought it was pretty darn cool, and if you don't... well that is too bad for you!

And that was our day away at Cape Jourimain, hope to go back next summer!

Jason and Sandi's Wedding

We spend the past day and a half celebrating with friends and family.  This celebration was for my cousin Jason and his new wife Sandi.  They were married at the Inn at Spry point yesterday afternoon on a cliff overlooking the ocean.  The view was gorgeous and we were blessed with such great weather for their special day.  There was lots of hugs and talking and laughs with all those who were there.  Most of the guests were staying at the lovely inn.  After the wedding, we attended a vegan dished reception of salad and tofu & chick pea curry.  There were speeches and toasts made to the couple.  After the reception, we danced the night away. The inn lost water supply so that was a downer, but we still made the most out of the rest of the night and today.  This morning, the party was over.  We ate breakfast, packed up and said goodbye to our family and friends for now.

I love my family so much, and looking back on the past two days, it is a shame that we need a wedding to see each other more often.  But I guess that is life.  Life gets busy and stressful and sometimes we don't always make the time for the people that matter the most.

All the best to my wonderful cousins Jason and Sandi.  I am so happy for you both :)

Get away

Sometimes you need to just get away, and that is exactly what I did.

Last Saturday morning I woke up not feeling so great, but even when I got off work, I made my way home to get my stuff ready to go to Nova Scotia.  I got there late Saturday night, tired from the drive but happy to be there.  I was greeted by Haig and his amazing siblings.  I just love them.

We spent Sunday at church and we also had the opportunity to go to a fireside by a church speaker, Brad Wilcox.  He gave us some amazing counsel, especially that the church's standards keep us safe.  I liked when he said "We are on the lifeboats, while everyone else is on the Titanic".  Pretty cute eh?

On Monday, Haig and I went swimming with his youngest sisters Emma and Hannah.  They are such fun little girls.  Later, we went to the mall to do some shopping and we went to Jack Astor's for a dinner date.

Tuesday, we took Emma, Luke and Hannah to Rainbow Haven beach.  The waves were awesome, the sun was shinning and we had a great day.    Tuesday night, Haig and I lit off fireworks from a beach and took a walk on a dock.  Such a lovely evening.

I am having such hard time believing that we only have about two more visits until Haig leaves for his mission.  For those reading who don't really understand this yet,  Haig is going away for two years to serve a mission for our church.  Missions are a great experience that young men in out church have the opportunity to do and to preach the true gospel to people all around the world.  Haig will be going to Minnesota mission for the next two years.  I won't see him and our communication will be mostly through letters.  I am excited and scared for this, but I know it be such a great experience.

As for now, I am working a lot.  It is great because I could really use the money for school.  My cousin is also getting married tomorrow in eastern PEI, so I am looking forward to spending the weekend up there with my dad's side of the family.  There is not a lot of us, but we have not all been together in a long time so it should be really good.

I love my girl Casey.  We spend the whole day together yesterday and it was so fantastic.  We had lots of laughs and lots of fun together.  To top off the day, Casey gave me my late birthday present, A persona charm bracelet with a pink glass charm on it!

She is a girl's best friend.
Thanks for the fantastic day Casey!

someday soon

... when I am not enjoying the long summer days that have mostly been filled with sunshine, when I am not working with lovely people at Reebok, when I am not with my girlfriends having fun, when I am not full of laughter and having a good time,

I will blog more.

As for now, I will continue to do the things mentioned above and also make a little trip over to Halifax!  So excited am I!  Wish me luck as I will be driving by myself, leaving Saturday night and coming back on Wednesday!
